The Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet
By definition, the term "chamber" refers to intimate performances in a small venue (or "chamber"), enabling performer and audience alike to experience the living arts on a personal level. This philosophy is the forging foundation of the Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet.
In past centuries, meaningful performances were presented in the small chambers and salons of royalty and the gentry for an invited group of guests. More often than not, composers, librettists, performers and choreographers were employed by the kings and dukes of these times past, creating a sense of place for both artists and audiences.
Mirroring this tradition, the Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet was formed in 2006 to inspire the creation of new ballets, and to present them in the described intimate and now uncommon European Old-Style-Salon setting.
The Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet is by nature interactive, pairing dancers and living musicians on stage together. Bringing back the tradition of collaborative creation in the formation of a new work, the philosophies of the chamber ballet further challenge its creators and interpreters to bring a unique blend of interests and abilities to the group, with the intent of
creating a satisfying whole.
Indoor/Outdoor Festival Space (IOFS) at MAHMA is
home for the implementation of the ideals of the Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet. Productions are always presented interactively with musicians of global renown, and are designed to bring audiences together
with these world-class musicians and aspiring young dancers, on a meaningful and intimate level of communication.

The Malibu Friends of Music, a California non-profit arts organization, sponsors premiere ballet productions of the Malibu Coast Chamber Ballet. A nominal member fee is required for the year.
