The Malibu Friends of Music
Presents the 2010
Spring Concert Performance
of the
 Malibu Coast Youth Symphony!

Monday, March 22nd, 2010
8:00 pm

Montgomery Arts House
for Music and Architecture
(MAHMA)

Please join us on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 at 8:00 pm for the spring performance of the Malibu Coast Youth Symphony, an exciting ensemble showcasing fine young musicians from the Malibu region.

The Malibu Coast Youth Symphony is comprised of outstanding young instrumentalists. Conducted by Scott Hosfeld, (who is the Music Director and Conductor for Malibu's scintillating professional chamber orchestra: the Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra), the Malibu Coast Youth Symphony rehearses most Monday evenings for approximately 10 sessions each Fall, and again in the Spring, presenting a spectacular final performance at the end of each term.

In addition to rehearsals and performances led by Maestro Hosfeld, each instrumental section in the symphony will have individual coaching from word-class musicians drawing from the renowned Montgomery Arts House Chamber Music Series and Malibu Coast Music Festival rosters.

The group employs  repertoire from a wide range of styles, focusing on full orchestral works from the range of classical styles, current and contemporary composers, as well as film music. The orchestra is designed to teach and focus on  large ensemble skills, as well as offering  students various opportunities for concerto, solo parts within the orchestra, and chamber music.
